Ana was asked to participate in the Kokeshi Show opening November 3rd at Subtext Gallery in San Diego. She asked me to work on the dolls with her and we came up with the idea playing off the form of the Kokeshi doll to create our Anra characters.

The two dolls taken apart.
Dolls were sanded and gesso'd and painted with oils (face) and acrylic (body, hair, bow).
Sans bow flaps.. work in progress.
Ana & I are gonna make a little trip down to San Diego for the show with our friend Tiffany Liu who is also presenting in the show. Please say hi if you see us!

these are amazing....you guys should make more. a whole family?! so um, are you guys dating or something?
Since these will not be for sale at the show (we like them too much), the gallery has sent us another Kokeshi doll to paint and sell. So there will in fact be an addition to the family.
