*Updated* Gen Art Vanguard Show

Mark Murphy asked me to be part of Gen Art's Vangaurd show in Miami this year, December 4 - 7.

My painting, Cindy, is inspired by Ball Jointed Dolls. I fell in love with these little dolls when I came across a picture of one on the internet a few years ago. I didn't know what they were called and it took me a really long time to find them again, as I was using the wrong keywords to search for them. Oh how I would love to make my own dolls...

'May' is complete!

12 x 16 Inches
Oil on Wood

The chrysalis.

My favorite part of this painting was looking up pictures of butterflies, cocoons, and chrysalis. Here are some pictures I found on flickr when I was looking for reference.

'May' in Progress

I'm working on smaller paintings while in SF because they're easier to transport. 'May' is 12 x 16 inches, oil on wood.

Anra Scholarship Submission

Entries for our Scholarship Contest have been slowly trickling in as the deadline (Nov. 28th) approaches. Here is an entry by 9 year old Elan called Nightmare.

My favorite part is the little silhouette of a person at the very bottom of the drawing! I almost missed that little guy.

Sketch for Change

Ara and I contributed a couple sketches to Sketch for Change. Our drawings, along with drawings by Tim Biskup, Bob Dob, James Jean, Gary Baseman, Glenn Barr, and many others will be auctioned off on Ebay to raise money for Barack Obama's Campaign.

We drew a cute little Obama girl and a caricature of Palin as a lipstick-wearing elephant.

Greetings from SF

Ara is working freelance at Agency Collective and they've offered me a spot right next to the doggy's bed to set up my painting area. I think we are in the roof loft.

I'm very happy with this spot.

Official Baby Tattooville Pictures!

All photos were taken by the "official" photographer of Baby Tattooville, Andrea Bricco. I've uploaded a good portion of the pictures into my Flickr for you to look through.

SF and MolokoPlus Magazine

Ara and I are leaving for San Francisco tomorrow morning for a few weeks. Ara is working freelance at Agency Collective and they have been kind enough to provide me with space to paint for my show while we are up there. However, I won't be able to update with Esther finished until we come back since I am not taking her with me. I'm so excited though! It will be a nice change of scenery for both of us.

Here she is at 90%. One day I will have a picture of the actual colors :(

I'm one of the many artists featured in Moloko+ Magazine's 7th issue. Its mostly in Russian, but there are lots of illustrators and photographers to look through including the Clayton Brothers, Keigo Mohri, Ed Carosia, and Russian artists.

Esther Update

I spent my first day back from Riverside working on Esther. Its darker and looser than I'm used to but I feel I have more freedom at this size.

Here are some of the few pictures I took last weekend.

We are back!

We had a wonderful time at Baby Tattooville this weekend! I got to meet new fans, collectors, and artists I hadn't met in person and we also made some new friends. I'm so glad we were able to be a part of this event. We'll most likely attend next year as guests if we're invited back. They have an exciting line up for next year including Audrey Kawasaki, Travis Louie, and Liz McGrath!

I have some catching up to do on painting, drawing, and your sticker requests so a picture post of our weekend will have to wait a few days. For now, you can check dailydujour.com and
our new friends at arrestedmotion.com who were blogging live all weekend.
