P.S. Please don't post this on those freebie sites.

FINALLY! We tried to go to Santa's Village to take some reference pictures, but it turns out Santa's Village is now a Lumber Yard.

Watch Me Paint!

This is my first attempt at filming a painting so please excuse the bad lighting and low quality of the video. I had a deadline and it was 2am when I started filming. Future demo's will be better!

New Projects

I have been distracted by my previously finished paintings, having spent the past few days re-working a few of the images. Unfortunately, I will have re-shoot them :(

Something about Veronica's nose and lips (and the rest of the face) had bothered me. This is the third time I re-worked her. I worked on Chelsea quite a bit too but I can't post the image until I shoot it as its too big for my scanner.

Veronica with new face.

In other news, I'm really excited to be working on some new projects and have added two more shows for 2009 and 2010.

-A t-shirt produced by Mark Murphy.
-A print that will be released through POVevolving.
-A solo show with Roq la Rue in Seattle in 2009.
-A solo show with Mondo Bizzarro in Italy in 2010.
-And various group shows TBA.

I'm also trying to figure out a way to film a painting session. I'm going to try it tonight with my current illustration assignment because I think I can finish it in a day (by day I mean overnight tonight, since I won't be sleeping.) If it gets posted tomorrow, I will have succeeded. :)

Shows and Shop

I have two upcoming group shows in the next two month. Here is one and here is the other.

Also, I have added five newly-framed drawings in my Etsy shop. Please take a look!

Overalls

Finally got a chance to work on this painting. I'm further along than what this picture shows and I think I can finish in a couple days if I don't get distracted by more sketches. Today's mission is to find a framer for my odd-sized pieces. Thank goodness (and thanks to Lola) I have a frame for the big piece already.

May has been watching her new friends come to life.

The guys are working on a superbowl commercial and haven't left the studio in a couple days.

Swamped

My pile of sketches from two illustration assignments.

Our studio is starting to look like a gallery.

Taken from the other end of the studio. Thats my little painting station in the corner. There's a whole upstairs too with all the computers.

Framed Drawings

I took the thirty eight remaining drawings to be framed and got them back a few days ago. 15-20 of them will going to my show, the rest will be available at our studio opening party (to be announced!)

We've just started moving into our studio! I don't quite feel at home yet, but I love the space. Ara and our two studio mates are upstairs with the computers and my painting station is downstairs at the opposite end of the studio so I feel like I'm in a different room than everyone else. Well, technically, I am. We have yet to furnish the large space between me and the kitchen. We need couches, a large tv/projector for presentations/watching Gossip Girl, and lots of cabinets. Our color scheme is black, white and grey/silver.

Movers and Shakers Show, Feb 14th

Chloe will be in a group show curated by Gino Joukar at POVevolving gallery on February 14th. The list of 60+ artists is amazing! Please check it out and come out to the show (on Valentines day!) if you're in Los Angeles. Gino is also putting together a special print box set of 12 artists that will be available at the show

Anra Scholarship Contest

If you're curious about the contest, I still have 4 classrooms of art to scan and upload before we judge the contest. I'm hoping to have everything scanned and online by the 15th and the results by the end of the month.

Check here for the submissions, and keep checking in the next couple weeks for more work to be added.

Dam Pinball Brothers

I haven't slept yet and although I'm very tired, I thought I should make a big picture post here before I go home.

I spent all night/day working on the brothers' heads. I'm not ready to show them yet but here are some early progress shots.

For New Years, Ara and I went to Henderson, Nevada near Las Vegas to stay with some friends. We went to the Hoover Dam and a Pinball museum.

My first time at the Dam...I thought it'd be bigger. The giant mountain rocks and construction were pretty neat.

I love my G10 so much.

The second day our friend Tyler took us to a pinball museum that had some awesome vintage pinball machines as well as new ones.

Looks more fun than it is.

Ara, while intoxicated, figured out a way to get that hazy Lifetime look with any camera.

2009 is looking good, as we will be moving into our new studio this week. I'm so excited to have more space and possibly have a clean/clutter free desk!
